{"id":584,"date":"2018-02-24T02:30:33","date_gmt":"2018-02-24T02:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/docs.project-terran.com\/?p=584"},"modified":"2018-02-24T21:05:47","modified_gmt":"2018-02-24T21:05:47","slug":"crafting-values","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/docs.project-terran.com\/?p=584","title":{"rendered":"Crafting Values"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are various approaches to calculate the values of resources used in crafting items in PT.\u00a0 There are no rules to dictate the values of ores or resources, so I can only offer my thinking when I attempt to determine a fair value.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raw Ores<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It takes 2 fuel to mine ore from an asteroid.\u00a0 How much ore you get will depend on the mining laser that you have installed. \u00a0\u00a0Each higher level of ore requires new levels of mining skills.\u00a0 Each higher level of ore also requires that you mine in a lower law level, and therefore take a higher risk of being attacked by pirates.\u00a0 You will need progressively better shields and armor to protect yourself. \u00a0\u00a0When you progress to mining Ice, at level 6 ores, you will need new special mining lasers and also new skills as well.<\/p>\n<p>So how do you put a value to any of that?<\/p>\n<p>My approach has always been to never include the expenses that I incur from buying mining lasers, or shields, or better ships. \u00a0\u00a0These are simply the costs of doing business.\u00a0\u00a0 A mechanic doesn&#8217;t charge you for the tools he needs to fix your car.\u00a0 I also don\u2019t count the value of skills that I need to buy as an expense.\u00a0 Again, you don\u2019t reimburse your doctor for his medical degree.\u00a0 As for the cost of the fuel that is consumed, my thinking is that fuel is given to us, and therefore is free.<\/p>\n<p>So that leaves nothing, no expenses.\u00a0 Ores are mined for free.\u00a0 The value of ore then is based on what the market will offer you for it.\u00a0 As of this writing, raw ores seem to have a rough value of about 3.5 credits per level, and 5 credits per level for Ice.\u00a0 Sometimes you can get more, but I put my value at the lower end of the scale.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 1<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 2<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 3<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 4<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Hikarite<\/p>\n<p>Kelsalt<\/p>\n<p>Thracium<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Feltonite<\/p>\n<p>Novastone<\/p>\n<p>Ravenrock<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Malifinum<\/p>\n<p>Niobenium<\/p>\n<p>Xanthomite<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Porphyrogen<\/p>\n<p>Nylonite<\/p>\n<p>Metalocite<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Gelon<\/p>\n<p>Quasar<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">3.5<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">7<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">10.5<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">14<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">17.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 6<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 7<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 8<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 9<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 10<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Ormafrost<\/p>\n<p>Cryzen<\/p>\n<p>Verodite<\/p>\n<p>Tervil<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Oortium<\/p>\n<p>Mithron<\/p>\n<p>Kazzat<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Fentril<\/p>\n<p>Bregnovite<\/p>\n<p>Nazzorium<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Ravennyte<\/p>\n<p>Zimat<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Rotosar<\/p>\n<p>Gulbrium<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">30<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">35<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">40<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">45<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">50<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Refined Ore<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A refined ore requires that you first start with a raw ore, and you will need between 300 and 550 raw ore for this. \u00a0There is also a fee of 1000 credits per level of ore to refine a batch.<\/p>\n<p>Your yield depends a great deal on the level of skill you have invested into refining that ore.\u00a0 I suggest that you get at least level 3 before refining anything.\u00a0 I have focused my refining skills on only one ore in each group, and then have tried to maximize my skills.<\/p>\n<p>I have calculate the values of each ore I can refine by adding 1000 credits per level plus the value of the ore used, and dividing that cost total by the yield.\u00a0 \u00a0As an example, Hikarite is a level 1 ore, so it costs 1000 credits to refine, and it uses 550 Hikarite.\u00a0 With a skill level of 8 it yields 135 Pryavlon &amp; 360 Rawk.<\/p>\n<p>((1000*1) + (550 * 3.5)) \/ (135 +360) \u00a0= 5.91<\/p>\n<p>It gets more complicated when you consider that I also get Pryavlon or Rawk from refining other ores, including level 2 or 3 ores.\u00a0 Those costs result in a higher value, which can increase my average cost.\u00a0 After graphing out my average costs for refining each ore, I have developed an easy formula of 10 credits per level, which make a fairly good best fit line through the data.\u00a0 The table below shows the results.\u00a0 I have grouped the refined ore into levels, which fit the calculated values fairly closely.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 1<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 2<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 3<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 4<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Rawk<\/p>\n<p>Pryavlon<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Abaron<\/p>\n<p>Blissar<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Ostrinite<\/p>\n<p>Cabalite<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Kelvorlite<\/p>\n<p>Sinnabar<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Golbanite<\/p>\n<p>Exilium<\/p>\n<p>Pyric<\/p>\n<p>Dressonite<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">10<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">20<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">30<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">40<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">50<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 6<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 7<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Level 8<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">Vextril<\/p>\n<p>Theragen<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Arkalon<\/p>\n<p>Helitron<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">Quazitron<\/p>\n<p>Ulminium<\/p>\n<p>Zortium<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"117\">60<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">70<\/td>\n<td width=\"117\">80<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Harvested Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harvested resources are pretty straight forward.\u00a0 It costs 180 level 1 ores to get 120 Harvested resources.\u00a0 I use 4 credits for the level 1 ore here, just to keep from having to deal with fractions.\u00a0 I don\u2019t add anything for the cost of my Harvesters, and you can earn several Personal Harvesters for free from various Missions anyhow.\u00a0 The value becomes 6 credits per unit of Harvested Resource.<\/p>\n<p>(180 x 4) \/ 120 = 6<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commodity Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These are items available at a Commodity Trade Office.\u00a0 There\u2019s no need for much discussion here, I use the price that I can buy it for.\u00a0 Construction Goods for example can be bought for between 65 and 82 credits.\u00a0 I\u2019m not looking for a profit, or some wage for my effort of flying across the galaxy, I\u2019m only after my actual costs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salvaged Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a tough one.\u00a0 Salvaged Items are gained from destroying enemy ships, and using a Salvage Laser to clean up the debris.\u00a0 There are various levels of Salvaged Items, that requires killing enemies in lower Law Level systems.\u00a0 The top level items can be extremely difficult to obtain, even for veteran players, and often require teams of several players to kill the enemies.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t want to spoil the fun the discovering new items, so I won\u2019t publish my list of which items are available in which Law Level systems. \u00a0\u00a0You will have to discover those on your own.<\/p>\n<p>What you\u2019re willing to pay may be very much higher than the values I propose, since nobody seems willing to sell their Salvaged materials.\u00a0 I think the progression has to be an exponential curve to reflect the difficulty and risk of getting these items, so I will throw out this out as a proposal for values:<\/p>\n<p>(13 &#8211; Law Level) ^2 * 50<\/p>\n<p>Basic items available in Law Level 12, such as Air Regulators, Data Display Units, and even Plasma Channel Sections, are worth 50 credits.\u00a0 Due to the current demand of Plasma Channel Sections for crafting, Plasma Channel Sections are in extreme demand.\u00a0 Items available only in Law Level 4, such as Plasma Containment, are worth about 4050 credits each.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crafting Values<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ok, it\u2019s time to wrap it all up.\u00a0 Most crafting projects will require some items out of several categories; some raw ore, some refine ores, a harvester resources, a commodity item and potentially a salvage item.\u00a0 Each crafted item will also require that you purchase a schematic, which is typically usable to craft 4 or 5 copies of the item before it expires.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s use a Foreen ARC Laser C3 as an example.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kelsalt is a level 1 ore, so my value is 3.5 credits per unit.
